Nütile is an innovative solution to the world's flooring needs, improving upon the features and capabilities of industry staples such as laminate.
We spent a lot of time researching and developing the next new flooring sensation and feel we have made improvements in all areas that can be improved upon. But being the newest sensation often means that many won't yet be familiar with our latest offering so we want to showcase today all the ways in which Nütile is a superior flooring option to laminate.
Durability and Longevity
Whether choosing to redecorate a single room in your house, having a full makeover or refurbishing your business, you want to ensure the materials you choose offer the greatest longevity whilst being durable enough to withstand the wear and tear it will have to face over time.
To this end, Nütile's SPC flooring is an appropriate choice thanks to the design of its construction.
SPC stands for ‘stone polymer composite’ and refers to the mixture of natural stone and plastic that makes up the rigid core of our flooring solution. Made from 70% natural stone and 30% polyvinyl chloride, Nütile’s SPC vinyl planks are highly resistant to the impacts, wear and scratches that it is likely to receive over its lifespan.
The robustness of its make-up, enhanced by our Ultimate Sheild layer which boasts a scratch, wear, and stain-resistant UV coating, makes Nütile an ideal candidate for high-traffic areas such as living rooms, kitchens, and commercial premises. For this reason, we offer a 25-year warranty on Nütile installed following appropriate guidelines in residential settings, you can’t get much greater assurance than that.
In contrast to this, laminate flooring is a combination of fibreboards layered with a design layer and protective coating. The core of the material is not nearly as robust as the Stone Polymer Composite and so is at a higher risk of damage from impacts and shall wear quicker over time, especially in high-traffic areas.
Waterproof Properties
One of the major improvements Nütile’s SPC makes over laminate is its waterproofing properties. Laminate has the unfortunate characteristic of swelling and warping when exposed to water or high levels of moisture. This is due to the fibreboard core it uses absorbing water into itself, and expanding where the water gets in, causing changes to the shape of the board and beginning a process of quickly diminishing integrity.
SPC is made from natural stone and PVC, both materials are themselves 100% waterproof, ensuring that Nütile’s SPC flooring range will both stand the test of time, but also be unphased by accidents and spillages. This makes SPC flooring the superior choice for wet rooms and high-moisture environments like bathrooms and kitchens.
Easy to Install
Both Nütile’s SPC flooring and laminate flooring offer relatively easy forms of installation. Utilising a click and lock system that is as simple as placing, clicking, and locking each board into place.
The advantages of Nütile appear when we dig into the finer details of installation.
Generally, laminate flooring requires the installation of underlay first as a protective cushioning barrier as well as an acoustic dampener. Nütile's SPC flooring is pre-fitted with its own underlay layer removing one step and one job from the installation process. This makes it much more DIY-friendly and so can also save you some money on labour by feeling confident enough to install it yourself.
On top of this, not all rooms are the same size and shape, and at some point, boards have to get cut to size, to fit around fireplaces, archways, and other features of the living space. When cutting laminate it often requires a saw to do the work, and some laminate even uses a metal lattice for extra strength which becomes nearly impossible to cut through without the correct equipment.
In contrast, Nütile’s SPC flooring is a simple score and snap method. Simply score where needed with a Stanley knife, and place pressure on either side of the scoring to snap cleanly along the line. This again absolutely enhances how DIY-friendly and easy to install Nütile is, on top of its other amazing properties.
Enhanced Design Choices
Both laminate flooring and SPC offer a wide range of design options and both often seek to mimic natural materials such as hardwood and stone.
SPC flooring benefits from improvements in printing techniques, combined with the rigid core material, which allows it to excel at replicating the look and feel of natural stones and woods.
Whilst laminate flooring can often look the part from a distance, upon closer inspection the illusion bursts and it’s clear that the material is just an image on a board. But with SPC the texturing of the material plus the high-quality image printed along its top sells the look and feel of a natural stone or wood texture ensuring that the aesthetic choices you desire shine through for everyone to admire.
Conclusion
So, whether you are looking for a durable alternative to laminate, a waterproof alternative, one that is easier to install or one whose design aesthetic matches and mimics natural materials effortlessly, Nütile’s SPC flooring range is second to none.
